Peakend Pictures

Hey mountain travelers,

Thanks to all of you for an awesome Peak Weekend. It went super smooth this year! Not only did we conquer all 48 New Hampshire 4000 footers over the weekend, but we peaked all but 2 on just Saturday!

We want to thank Kate Hirsch, our caretaker for the weekend for being so responsible, helpful, and most importantly, donning a onesie all weekend. We also want to thank Josh Grelle and Julie Sanduski for the phenomenal food they cooked all weekend. Finally, thanks to Bennett for getting an awesome deal at Wayne's. We hope to see you soon, frolicking through the woods or playing in the leaves at autumn fest this Friday.

Love,

Sophie and Luke

Oh and here are some pictures you guys sent us. We'd love more too.

Here's the folder. Some pictures below.

As a reward for reading the email, here are some pretty great responses to the fart section of the signup.

1. Think of a sect of cannibalistic unicorns which specified in eating unicorns that eat only flowers. Then take those cannibalistic unicorns, throw them onto a fire made out of hand selected oak branches until they are nice and crispy. Then imagine the smell of the fire being pissed out by a raging bear. Then imagine a parallel universe in which that smell tastes like milk. Take then what smellst like a dead horse in that universe and take it back to the original universe and sniff it. There you go.

2. Well, you've asked the right question. See, as a man who has had many a "poopmergency," farts have also been a struggle. Many a time I have had a wet, unclear fart. The sound is one thing, but when you can smell mayo and some roast beef from your sandwich from lunch, and maybe even that onion kind of smell, it's pretty bad.

Anyways, so yea if my farts could smell like anything they would smell like whatever a My Little Pony smells like. Not sure what it smells like, but the commercials are always so great. Like v great. All about My Little Pony.

3. Anderson Cooper's scalp after a 35 minute sauna session.

HIKES N RIDES

We had an astounding number of sign ups this year! We had 122 solo signups and 38 groups sign up for peak. We literally had more people than would fit, in any sense, at the Loj. We had no idea we would have such an incredible amount of interest, but were unable to avoid making cuts. HOWEVER, you should still come to the Loj another time. There are people every weekend who will gladly take you on trips all throughout the Whites.

But HERE IT IS!

HIKES AND GROUPS

RIDES TO LOJ

GET STOKED.

IMPORTANT INFO:

You're probably riding to the loj with different people than you're hiking with. Check both documents.

Leaders! We need you to contact your group immediately and make sure everyone has the correct gear. Also we only assigned you a peak! You need to pick a route and show us on a map during office hours. If you aren't sure how to do this, we can help you during office hours or via email.

ALL LEADERS MUST SIGN UP FOR AND COME TO OFFICE HOURS!

You have to come see us so we can make sure you know where you're going and have the correct gear and information. Please have a trips form and gear checklist ready!

Drivers please let your cars know from where and at what time you're leaving ASAP.

Also, if and when people drop out we will add you! If you didn't get in there's still a chance you can go!

***We may have accidentally deleted two of you from the rides! but no worries you're still going! Please email us if you find that you're in a group for a hike but don't have a ride.

PEAK WEEKEND 2014.

hey ya'll

Your new coordinators for PEAK WEEKEND 2014 here.

So as I hope you're all aware PEAK WEEKEND 2014 is fast approaching.

If you weren't previously aware, don't know what Peak Weekend is, or are just generally confused you should probably come to our GIM on Wednesday at 9 PM in Braker 001 where we will explain those very things and more!

But just to whet your appetite for peakend info here's a brief spiel.

Peak Weekend is one of TMC's largest annual events. Over the course of Columbus Day weekend, we try to put someone from Tufts atop all 48 of New Hampshire's 4000+ foot peaks. If  hiking, mountains, woods, rocks, friends, the loj, stars, or gorgeous views at all interest you than you should sign up and come to the Loj between Oct. 11-13 and hike a peak. Only prereqs are the ability to walk and liking fun. Signups will be posted here following the GIM.

GIM Wednesday at 9. Braker 001. Come.

If you have any questions, feel free to email us at peakweekend@gmail.com
